Hello and welcome, my name is Dr Jessica McCarrick (Jess). I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist and accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner with over 11 years of post-qualification experience within the NHS, private and third-sector settings.
I provide psychological assessment and therapy to adults experiencing difficulties with their mental health and wellbeing. I specialise in working with individuals who find themselves repeating unhelpful patterns which impact on their feelings about themselves, their self-identity and their relationships with others. I am based in the North East of England and I provide online, individual therapy for adults struggling with difficulties in their relationships - either with themselves or others.
I have worked with people with difficulties including depression, anxiety, bereavement, low mood, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, post-traumatic stress, adjusting to physical health conditions, disordered eating, body image issues and low self-esteem. I continue to work part-time as a Counselling Psychologist in the NHS.
As part of my doctoral training, I undertook 40 hours of personal therapy and chose to continue beyond this, as I believe this is an important part of caring for my own wellbeing.
I believe therapy can be meaningful and helpful for everyone at different stages of life. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of ourselves, as well as to explore experiences or difficulties that may feel unresolved, from both the past and the present.
It can be daunting taking the first step to reach out for help, so if you decide you would like to take the next step and speak with me for a free 20 minute consultation I welcome you reaching out. Distress is a universal human experience, however we are all unique within that, so I will listen to your experiences without judgement and discuss our next steps.
